Loving Jay-Z’s New Site
Nov 10th
I have a thing for digital experiences that guide users through a story and with Jay-Z‘s latest online venture Jay-Z Hits Collection Vol. 1 it basically uses everything that’s making the web a unique interactive experience. The site has style, personality, usability, organization, voice and above all, a ridiculously strong narrative line throughout. Okay, I’ll stop gushing about this and just share the link.
Hope you enjoy as much as I do.
My Favorite Hank Moody Rant

Okay, so this clip is from the first season of Californication and now that the show is into it’s third season it could be seen as a bit out-dated. But to me, this is timeless. I understand the obvious irony with me posting this on the Bloated Penguin, but I think there is something so brilliant about this entire statement. It speaks volumes for the evolution of technology and the de-evolution of creativity and human uniqueness.
I watched the second episode of the third season of Californication last night and there were a few moments in the episode that reminded me of More >
Copywriting With Borders
Aug 26th
It’s strange how you begin to appreciate the finer things in life when a lot of the freedoms you are used are stripped away by conventions. I’m speaking of course of creative writing within the confines of a specific number of characters. Working in content development and creative writing has really tought me to wear a couple of different hats at all times. On one hand I’ve got to look at things like SEO, find ability, ease of read and the scan ability with pretty much everything. Rope all of that in with a low character limit and you might More >
One More Week!!!!!
May 19th
I woke up this morning kind of pissed off and kind of tired, (nothing out of the ordinary), then I looked at the calendar and realized that I’ve only got 1 week remaining on my contract!!!! If you’ve been following my adventures in the corporate world then you’ll understand my excitement. I originally came from an environment where work was fun – I had the best time of my life goofing around, getting stuff done and drinking until my liver hurt like someone punched me in the nuts. Then I decided to take the free lance/rogue route and worked primarily More >
When I quit my job I…

So I used to be like this manager-type guy in a company that was essentially going nowhere fast so when I realized that my position really meant nothing, I made the conscious decision to get out and move on. I spent nearly 3 years with a media company doing everything from writing media campaigns to narrative design for online casino games, but by the time I reached about the half way point, I stopped and noticed that I hadn’t actually written or created anything in a very long time. Without me even knowing it I was managing people’s time, setting More >
On Second Thought…
Apr 2nd
A very interesting thing happened to me the other day. I was contacted by a possible client looking for some interactive writing they would need for an upcoming project. I won’t mention the client name because I’m still a little bit on the fence with this one. Anyways, HR department calls and asks me if I’d be interested in taking something on. I responded with the obvious questions.
So what exactly is it?
What does this company do?
To me, I think these are pretty standard questions. Especially when the client is basically making a cold call to a contractor they might need. More >
Game Drops Tomorrow!

One of the characters from WD
What’s up everyone?
So if you’ve been following this blog you might remember a few posts back that we’re “this close” to dropping our first game (and if you haven’t been following then you’re one of MANY). The free flash tower defense game is still in Beta right now, but at some point tomorrow everything will be good to go.
As this is my first ever video game script you can probably tell that I’m pretty nervous about the release. The story that I can tell about the game without falling into NDA territory is that the More >

I'm Lost
Took a few weeks but I’m finally caught up with Lost. Season 5 has gotten off to a pretty good start I guess, but I’m just not as interested this season as much as I have been in the past. Maybe its because of the long lay-off or maybe its because most of the story is taking place away from the island, or maybe (and this is probably it) I’m just really tired of TV shows trying to tackle time travel.
I’ve got this theory that’s probably not true, but there is no documentation stating that it is not so More >
