Ok, so every once in a while the testosterone in the bod overtakes everything else and I become a die-hard sports fan. It happens in March for the NCAA Basketball Tournament and now I’m focused on the Vancouver Canucks and a hopeful run to the Stanley Cup. I can’t express how much I’ve missed the feeling of the old 94 cup run!

So here’s my breakdown of the Canucks versus their first round opponent St Louis Blues. First off, I’m really excited to be chanting demoralizing things at the Blues’ players such as Brad “Likes” Boyes and TJ “BJ” Oshie. It would have been nice to break out the “Where I come from that spells TOES” sign, but we’re not playing Chicago. Secondly, I’m also really excited to get me another white towel. No matter what ANY other city in the world seems to believe, Towel Power was born in Vancouver. Get your facts straight and then start waving. Finally, This city is nuts out crazy for hockey and I can’t wait. Again, remember back to the 94 run!

So yesterday was this all-important day for NFL football where the playoffs were finally determined. First I’ll explain why this was good:

Drama in sports sells. It creates hatred and disappointment amongst the many fans and people are able to slip away from their recession-obsessed lives and think about something as meaningless as American football for an entire day.

The problem with all of this is the math involved. If Team A wins and Team C loses, then Team B will get a Wild Card – BUT if Team C ties and then Team B loses, then Team A will be granted the Wildcard…. See what I mean? This thing is ridiculously confusing and takes away from the game. There is absolutely no solution for any of this but it does re-enforce my hatred for math.

Rant over.
