Been to the movies lately?

If not then I suggest your next visit should involve getting a ticket for Scott Pilgrim Versus The World. I’m not just plugging this because I’ve been obsessed with the comics for way too long, I’m actually plugging this for a few reasons.

1 – This is the greatest movie based in Canada ever (at least in my opinion).

2 – Ellen Wong‘s performance as Knives defines breakthrough

3 – Michael Cera can actually be more than awkward

and 4 – It’s different. Really different.

Sick of the predictable Mc-Movies that have been crammed down your throat in the last little while? Looking for a simple story with a not-so-simple concept? Need a movie that speaks directly to a generation of lazy video gamers obsessed with Easter Eggs? Hellz Yeah!

Check out Scott Pilgrim Versus The World because if you don’t, someone else will tell you to see it anyways.

Not a lot of time this morning, but I figured I’d drop the latest trailer from Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World for everyone to take a look at.

Basically Michael Cera find this girl who he falls in love with, then has to battle all of her (7) Ex’s in order to truly win her heart. Kind of a simple video-game-esque concept, but it looks like it could work.

I’ve been watching this trailer for Youth in Revolt over and over again trying to figure out if this is actually a new concept or just another recycled idea with a different audience in mind. I’m leaning towards new idea because I never would have expected Michael Cera to play someone with a conscious case of schizophrenia, but because of this I can’t help but remember another movie where a character created a different persona of themselves… Anyways, check out the trailer below and let me know what you think. Not sure if a lot of people are aware of this project, but once you check out the trailer you’ll probably be interested – Okay, not probably, only maybe, but this is me trying to get people off their couches and into movie theater seat complete with sticky arm-wrests and the fresh scent of BO. Anyways…. Paper Heart is a fiction / non-fiction documentary / feature film about love. Confused? So is Michael Cera. The breakdown goes like this: Charlyne Yi a budding young actress who can be seen in Knocked Up and Semi Pro, sets out on a mission to document true love. She goes across the country with her film crew interviewing everyone from Kindergarten playground inhabitants to Seth Rogan (like there’s a difference). In doing so she meets Michael Cera (Superbad, Year One, Arrested Development) and falls in love herself. At this point the documentary about love becomes a story about love and discovery for the filmmaker. Stay with me, it’s even more confusing… Michael Cera and Charlyne Yi are actually a couple in real life so the footage shown in the film is actually (kind of) fabricated. Anyways, check out the trailer below and let me know what you would classify this flick as; Documentary? Feature Film? Reality TV? Crap? Let me know cause I’m as confused as Cera.
