Ghost Protocol: Worth The IMAX
Jan 4th
Hello again,
See, I told you I was going to post about Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol. I’m not a liar, at least not completely.
Flat out worth the price of IMAX admission to see this flick on a larger screen. Not only was the one scene on the side of the building absolutely insane, the entire movie was really well assembled. I have to say, I’m shooting this to the top of my Mission Impossible list in terms of favourites. So now a little bit on what to expect from this flick when (not if, because you really should check this out in the More >
A New Round Of Shows For The Fall
Jun 13th
I have to admit, last year’s summer of new TV shows wasn’t very good. In fact, looking back on the season I’d have to say that pretty much all of the experiments pitched over the Summer kind of flopped. There was JJ Abrams’ Undercovers, that show about a super-powered family, some terrible concept called The Cape and a whack load of cop and medical dramas. None of these really stick out in my mind as hits. In fact, some of the half-season fillers were much better in my mind including shows like The Killing and Game Of Thrones. In my mind, I’m More >
Pretty Damn Super
Jun 13th
So I went out and caught Super 8 this weekend and without reading any of the reviews and comments about it before hand I have to admit, it was pretty damn good. Obviously it wasn’t perfect, but JJ and Mr. Spielberg have done a really nice job of bringing back the excitement of a movie from beginning to end. The quick and dirty review from my end is this:
Before you watch Super 8, remember what it was like to get bundled up and go to the movies with someone older than you. Remember what it was like to line up and get tickets, sit in More >
JJ Casts Jesus
Mar 8th
So here’s some interesting casting news.
JJ Abrams has cast Jim Caviezel in his new show Person Of Interest set to premier next year. Person Of Interest will also star Michael Emerson (Ben from Lost) and will be penned by the other Nolan brother.
The show will center around a presumed dead ex-CIA agent known as Reese (played by Jesus) who is hired by a rich guy (Ben) to fight crime in the city. Although the premise doesn’t sound all that original, it’s already got a few things going for it. First, JJ is behind this and although his show Undercovers bombed, he’s still the guy behind More >
Super Bowl Movie Trailers
Feb 7th
Morning all,
Have to admit, didn’t watch the entire game. I caught the last couple of minutes but the night was mostly sucked up by some work I had to finish so I turned to my old friend The Box Score throughout the evening and got the annual Super Bowl fix. Anyways, as with many of you out there, the most entertaining part away from the game was definitely the commercials. Like every year, Bud Light, GoDaddy and a ton of car companies reigned royalty throughout the game, but what really caught my eye were the various movie trailers strung up in between all of More >
JJ Keeps On Pitchin’
Jan 10th
Happy Monday…. (ugh)
Amidst the end of the New Years hangover (a week later), let’s chat a bit about the “never-say-die” attitude from super producer JJ Abrams. Not only is JJ currently assembling Super 8 for the big screen, but Fringe is on the brink of returning, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol is currently shooting and he’s working with writers Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof on the second script for Star Trek. Hang on, take a breath. As for his television work in the near future, it’s already been confirmed that JJ is producing/writing (and probably directing the pilots of) Alcatraz and Odd Jobs.
And if that wasn’t enough, it sounds More >
Fringe Leaves Thursdays With A Bang
Dec 3rd
So as many of you are already aware of, Fringe is on yet another hiatus. It’s kind of sad but for the amount of awesome that Fringe oozes every episode they tend to be known for taking really long mid-season breaks. I don’t blame JJ and the gang because this is completely Fox‘s doing, but I guess they can always turn to the theology of patience is key… Awe, who are we kidding? Fox isn’t the sharpest when it comes to consistant quality programming, but Fringe fans have put up with a lot so far and I guess this move More >
Alcatraz Beefing Up Cast
Dec 1st
Morning all,
After the disappointment that was Undercovers, I think JJ Abrams needs to go back to what makes him such a fan favourite. A steady mix of sci-fi, action, mystery and comedy is what makes his projects so entertaining so with the announcement of Alcatraz we should all hope that JJ will be heading back to these roots. Now, to be fair, I only watched the pilot of Undercovers, but in my defense, that pilot was so bad I couldn’t bring myself to return to the series.
Good for JJ for moving on so quickly and I’m kind of excited for Alcatraz. The story sounds More >
