Heroes… The New ER
Sep 25th
Sometimes there’s a show that is just so amazing in its first season that the only direction it can go is down. Currently the best example for his is Heroes. I like to call this the, “ER Syndrome,” or a show that overstays its welcome in prime time. ER was amazing in the early to mid 90′s. The cast was great with Clooney and Julianna Margulies, a young Noah Wyle and the resurrection of Goose‘s career. It had an amazing amount of drama, took great chances in terms of story telling and the characters were so well established that as audiences we all More >
The return of…..
Sep 21st
Fringe, Californication, Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Bones last week as well as the return of Heroes tonight. Alright, so as you can probably guess, I don’t get out much; but hey! I’m in a new city without anyone to hang out with so I’ve been spending a lot of quality time with Walter and Peter Bishop, Hank Moody, Charlie and the gang from Paddy’s Pub and Booth and Brennan (I just realized how sad that really is…)
Anyways, I’ve been putting off my review of the season premier of Fringe for a little while because I needed some things to soak in. Not More >
Is that Ando from Heroes?
Sep 3rd
If you’ve been following the Bloated Penguin for a while then you won’t be surprised with my excitement when I say that Ando from Heroes is in a new flick. Titled White on Rice (nice…) James Kyson Lee plays Tim, the best friend of the protagonist. From what I can gather the flick is about a recently divorced guy who moves in with his sister and brother-in-law. He also has to bunk with his nephew who looks like he’s about 9. I’m probably not explaining this well at all but thankfully there is a trailer you can check out if you’re interested. It doesn’t show More >
Winston: The Forgotten Ghostbuster
Aug 13th
Growing up with the Ghostbusters we all had our favorites. I for one will always be partial to Peter Venkman played by Bill Murray, but I’ll always have a soft spot for Winston played by Ernie Hudson. I’m sure a lot people grew up knowing the names of Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd and Harold Raimis, but what about the only Ghostbuster of color Ernie Hudson? Well, I did a little research on our friend Winston and just heard some pretty interesting news. Ernie Hudson is being brought aboard the cast of Heroes to play a detective. No doubt he’ll be on the trail of More >
Heroes Gets T-Bagged!
Jul 30th
As a loyal fan of Heroes I’ve had to endure some terrible episodes, bad writing and tragic excuses for acting over the years, but for some reason I keep coming back. I sometimes feel like that guy who just can’t get enough of rehab. Anyways, NBC dropped this promo a few days ago to reel in sad folks like myself. When Heroes shut down for the season earlier this year, a lot of people (myself included), really felt that the run they had in season 1 had finally run out of steam. They can no longer live off of the phenomenon and More >
What Am I Going To Do When TV Ends This Season?
May 6th
Last night I came to a realization. Sitting at home in front of my TV in my regular ass-groove, I realized that the next two weeks are going to be the last two weeks of original network television for this season! I’m not one for reruns so I probably won’t be rushing home to check out previous episodes of anything and May marks finale month. I’ve been pretty loyal over the years and every once in a while I’ve picked up a new show to follow, but at this time every season I’m always at a bit of an entertainment More >
Tony Noooooooo!
Apr 15th
I had to wait a couple of days to find some time to finally catch up on 24, but I think I’m finally at the same point as most people following the real-time action packed FOX show. I think this is like season 8 or something, but I stopped counting a few years ago. I had actually stopped watching the show altogether for a few seasons because my favorite character Tony Almieda actually wasn’t in them… Until this year.
I hope this doesn’t spoil it for anyone reading this (sorry to all 4 of you), but Tony, who was bad at the More >
Bryan Fuller – Thank You
Mar 24th
Caught Heroes last night and to be honest, I would have stayed away had I not known the creative genius behind the episode. Without reading any spoilers I managed to figure out that the one and only Bryan Fuller penned last night’s episode Cold Snap, the best episode of Heroes since Company Man. And guess who wrote Company Man!
I posted a while back about Fuller and his short lived series Pushing Daisies so I won’t go too far into what his significance is on modern story telling, but I will say this – Had he not returned to Heroes, I would not More >
