So after 4 (or so) versions of rehashed content from the past 3 seasons, it looks as though Fringe has a real promo for the forth season online. Below you’ll get to see Lincoln from our side get reacquainted with Fringe division, as well as a few familiar occurrences such as some Observers and Walter without pants…

So the countdown to September 23rd is on for real now. Have a look at the promo below and get ready for another year of mysterious science.

So I’ve been watching all of Fringe once again hoping to time everything perfectly for the 4th season premier on September 23rd. In doing so, I’m becoming increasingly more excited to see what’s going to happen this year for Olivia, Walter, Astrid and now Lincoln (now that Peter doesn’t exist). Speaking of, the promos/teasers for the 4th season are ridiculous. I understand that they probably don’t want to release any footage or even really hint at what’s going to happen, but seeing these is just frustrating. In case you have no idea what I’m talking about, scroll down and watch them. What you’ll see is that they’ve rehashed a bunch of footage from the first three seasons and tagged on a creepy fuzzy-screened ending with a blurred message. Okay… I’m probably just complaining because I’m eagerly awaiting my Fringe fix, but I need more.

Got a little swamped yesterday morning so I neglected the blog, but I’m back at it. As promised, here are my top 3 favorite TV moments from San Diego Comic-Con 2011:

The “Peter Bishop” auditions for Fringe were hilarious. If you’re a Fringe fanatic like myself then you’ve been left scratching your head over the ending of season 3. The biggest of the mystery is definitely about what’s going to happen with Josh Jackson‘s character Peter. I guess a lot of people suspected he wasn’t going to be in the show so the Fringe gang threw together a little audition tape of casting sessions for a new Peter.

Next up was Nathan Fillion’s response to the ongoing question of whether or not he’ll play Drake in the Uncharted movies. I’m categorizing this as a TV moment because it came up during the panel for Castle. His response was spectacular:

“I am certainly still interested in playing Nathan Drake. I think every actor I know wants their action-adventure hero, their Indiana Jones. That would be a good one for me, I think. What I don’t want is people pressuring that poor man [director Neil Burger] and souring him on the actual idea. If we could somehow just… do you remember the movie Inception? I think that’s what we need to do. We need to let him land on the idea on his own.”

That’s right! Let’s Inception Neil Burger into casting him!

And finally, and this is a bit of a strange one, but I really enjoyed the trailer for the new Airbender cartoon from Nick; The Legend of Korra.

So I spent my weekend finally catching up on some much needed television and when I got to the end of my mini-marathon I realized that we’re actually in the beginning of finale season. To me, finale season is a lot more exciting than premier season purely because it’s an ending for some and a huge cliffhanger for others. Case an point, the season finale of Fringe and the series finale of Smallville.

First up Fringe. Chalk full of OMG and WTF moments as usual, I have to say that the Fringe finale was one of the better episodes I’ve sean all season. Sure, I’ve got my favourites, but knowing that Fringe will definitely be returning next season, I think the writers did a really nice job of wrapping up some story lines and introducing some more mysteries. It basically did what a season finale is supposed to do, but because it’s Fringe, it just seems to come out better. Highlights for include the Observers in the end, an all-grown-up Bella and the meeting of the two versions of everyone in the end. I’ll be honest, still not entirely sure I know where they are going with the whole, “Peter never existed” thing, but Fringe never fails to cast question, then answer with a great twist in the narrative.

Next was the series finale of Smallville. To be honest, if I never invested so much time into the first few seasons of this show, I probably never would have followed it through to the end. I have to say that it’s been one of the weaker sci-fi fantasy shows on television in its last few seasons, but I’m pretty loyal and I had hoped it would improve. Well, the series finale delivered. It delivered in a sense that it was a nice way to close the door on Superman as a boy and open the door to Superman as a man. That’s really all Smallville was about, basically how Clark becomes the Man of Steel. Obviously the highlight was seeing Clark finally put on the suit and listening to the iconic tones of the Superman theme throughout the episode. Farewell Smallville, it’s been an eventful (almost) decade.

Okay, so I know that The People’s Choice Awards are like a high school election where it really means nothing more than who is more popular, but in the case of Fringe this is HUGE!

As many of you are already aware, Fringe has been moved to the Death Slot on Fox Fridays. This could mean a lot of things including cancelation. If nobody stays home on Friday nights to watch the show, or at the very least PVR/TiVo’s the show, we could find ourselves wondering for the rest of eternity how the show might play out.

Thankfully, the people have spoken and awarded Fringe with the 2010 People’s Choice Award for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show. Olivia, Walter Peter and Astrid beat out the gangs from Smallville, True Blood, Supernaturals and Vampire Diaries to claim the award for this year which means people are watching. Good Job everyone!

Fringe makes its Friday debut on January 21st.

So as many of you are already aware of, Fringe is on yet another hiatus. It’s kind of sad but for the amount of awesome that Fringe oozes every episode they tend to be known for taking really long mid-season breaks. I don’t blame JJ and the gang because this is completely Fox‘s doing, but I guess they can always turn to the theology of patience is key… Awe, who are we kidding? Fox isn’t the sharpest when it comes to consistant quality programming, but Fringe fans have put up with a lot so far and I guess this move is just another bump in the road.

Last night’s episode was another nail-biting hour of sci-fi conflict with an appropriate ending. Not only did the Over-There Broyles win in our hearts (and probably had it removed…), but Olivia has finally returned and this is officially Game On between universes. But enough aout last night’s episode, let’s take a deeper look into this Friday time slot.

Staring on January 28th, Fringe will air at 9PM Friday nights on Fox. Fridays are bad for any network, but Fox has solidified themselves as the kings of Friday night shows with their laundry list of shows that are essentially walking dead. This list includes:

Sliders

The Lone Gunmen

Dark Angel

Firefly

Fastlane

Wonderfalls

Boston Public

Bernie Mac

Prison Break

Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles

and most recently Dollhouse

Sadly I watched most (the only ones I didn’t really follow were Fastlane and Bernie Mac) of these shows and to see them all go down on account of Fox moving them to the death slot was very saddening. The interesting thing about this list is that most of these shows started very successfully in other timeslots only to discover that they were walking to their own cancellations with the switch.

But the one beam of hope in all of this disastrous news, the one thing that Fringe fans in particular can hang onto is the successful run that X-Files had on Friday nights. Although the shows are quite different, to a point the fanbase is quite similar. We couldn’t keep Firefly above water, but maybe we can keep Fringe afloat just like X-Files.

It’s FRIDAY!!!!

So this being the morning after Thursday evening I’m assuming all (okay, probably not all, but some maybe?) of you tuned into to last night’s episode of Fringe. If at any point you ever thought the Sci-Fi Cinderella was teetering towards cancellation then all you have to do is watch what aired last night and you’ll understand why JJ and Bad Robot should be praised for their cross-dimensional narrative. Since the beginning of the season we’ve had to endure the flip-flop effect of each episode from week to week where one would take place over here, and the next would take place over there. Well, last night’s should mark the beginning of the end of see-saw.

Trapped Olivia is coming home and you can be sure she’s not going to let Walernate stop her. I love lead-up episodes to something huge and that’s exactly what last night represented. Olivia (who is from over here, but is currently trapped over there) is slowly building up a small gang of trustworthy peeps. Yesterday showed us that she can trust her cab driver, but also introduced something HUGE! The tight-shirted Broyles from over there will be an ally soon. After helping him finally catch the Candyman and saving his wife and son, Broyles has no choice but to help our Olivia get back.

And the kicker? Peter is FINALLY in the know. The GF was eternally pissed that her beloved peacoat wearing, scruffy beard graduate of Dawson’s Creek didn’t suspect he was shacking up with Fauxlivia but after the final scene from last night you can bet Peter going to be on a mission. For now, lets forget “The First People,” and watch as he navigates through the maze of shit that’s about to come to fruition. And now all we have to do is wait until December to find out what’s going to happen. Wonderful…. Thanks Fox.

Great Scott!

Fringe’s guest stars over the years have been amazing. From Spock to Robocop and now Doc Brown! That’s right, Christopher Lloyd will be appearing in this season’s 10th episode playing a musical icon that Walter adores. Can’t wait and if he drops a “Great Scott” line I might faint.

This will be the second throwback to Back to the Future on Fringe. If you recall back to last season’s episode about Peter’s past you might remember the Observers coming out of a movie theatre on “the other side,” that was playing Back to the Future starring Eric Stoltz.

The GF was exploring EW’s Ausiello Files last night and stumbled upon this clip from the Fox All Star party from a couple of weeks ago.

What!!!???

Awesome, according to Jasika Nicole (Astrid) the first few episodes of the third season of Fringe will be broken up into alternating episodes between the two universes. I’ve seen how shows have tried to deal with double universes before in that they mix both story lines into single episodes, but like always, Fringe is breaking the norm. With a one-to-one ratio of Them and Us, it sounds as though the creators of Fringe are hoping to get all of us die-hard fans to fall in love with both sides.

So who do you prefer, Olivia or Fuaxlivia? Walter or Walternate? And, according to Jasika’s interview, Astrid or Alternastrid?

The only tipping point I can see right now would be that there is only one Peter Bishop, but who knows going forward?

Dammit – I just realized that it’s frickin August and we won’t be able to start following this show again until September 23rd.

This upcoming weekend marks the inevitable kick-off to the greatest event of the year… Yes, I’m talking about Comic Con. Please tell me you know what Comic Con is and why it’s so important to a trivial gnome like myself because I don’t feel like writing an entire novel. Anyways, this year’s convention is probably going to generate the most buzz of the year in terms of comics, movies, TV and video games. Yes, each seem to have their own niches and each medium of entertainment could probably fill an entire weekend itself, but Comic Con is a celebration of entertainment – all entertainment.

This year will see the panels of three of the most anticipated flicks to hit theatres in 2011. Green Lantern, Thor and… Suckerpunch? Yes, Zack Snyder and the gang from Suckerpunch are apparently going to be at Comic Con this year and I have a feeling it will come away as the darkhorse title that will generate the neccessary buzz for the upcoming release. Similar to the way Kick-Ass showed it’s stuff last year.

Here’s the spread that will be premiering in the upcoming Entertainment Weekly magazine that is all about Comic Con.

As you can see, Suckerpunch looks like it could be in the vein of Kick-Ass in that there hasn’t been a ton of news up until this point, but once it’s all revealed, will most likely be the talk of the Con. Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung, Jenna Malone, Abby Cornish and Emily Browning, Suckerpunch is going to be a trip down mental street as a girl tries to escape a lobotomy by instilling the help of her inmates within her own imagination.

Next up I’m pretty excited to hear some news about Fringe‘s 3rd season. This year brings an extended cast of Lance Reddick and Blair Brown along with regulars Joshua Jackson, Anna Torv and John Noble. According to the schedule, there will be some kind of trailer shown so I’m hoping someone illegally leaks this online at some point.

That’s it for now, but I did catch Inception last night. Here’s my two sentence review:

Probably the only flick this year that I will gladly watch twice. Leo, Murphy, Page and Watanabe were all amazing, but Joseph Gordon Levitt earned himself a fan.
