A Couple Of New Shows To Follow
Jan 23rd
Morning all,
Again, been a while but I’m back and loving it…
Anyways, I’ve been spending a lot of time lately trying to expand my repertoire of television shows and I think I’ve found a couple that are really interesting. Let’s be clear, I did not discover these shows by any means, but I’m a constant skeptic when it comes to television because, well, I’m a big snob. In any case, here are a couple of newbies that I think everyone should add to the queue.
First up is Sherlock. I’m not talking about the movie, I’m talking about the wonderful new(ish) BBC modernized More >
Fringe Leaves Thursdays With A Bang
Dec 3rd
So as many of you are already aware of, Fringe is on yet another hiatus. It’s kind of sad but for the amount of awesome that Fringe oozes every episode they tend to be known for taking really long mid-season breaks. I don’t blame JJ and the gang because this is completely Fox‘s doing, but I guess they can always turn to the theology of patience is key… Awe, who are we kidding? Fox isn’t the sharpest when it comes to consistant quality programming, but Fringe fans have put up with a lot so far and I guess this move More >
Alcatraz Beefing Up Cast
Dec 1st
Morning all,
After the disappointment that was Undercovers, I think JJ Abrams needs to go back to what makes him such a fan favourite. A steady mix of sci-fi, action, mystery and comedy is what makes his projects so entertaining so with the announcement of Alcatraz we should all hope that JJ will be heading back to these roots. Now, to be fair, I only watched the pilot of Undercovers, but in my defense, that pilot was so bad I couldn’t bring myself to return to the series.
Good for JJ for moving on so quickly and I’m kind of excited for Alcatraz. The story sounds More >
Walternates, Fauxlivias and Alternastrids? Fringe Season 3 Updates
Aug 5th
Morning kids,
The GF was exploring EW’s Ausiello Files last night and stumbled upon this clip from the Fox All Star party from a couple of weeks ago.
What!!!???
Awesome, according to Jasika Nicole (Astrid) the first few episodes of the third season of Fringe will be broken up into alternating episodes between the two universes. I’ve seen how shows have tried to deal with double universes before in that they mix both story lines into single episodes, but like always, Fringe is breaking the norm. With a one-to-one ratio of Them and Us, it sounds as though the creators of Fringe are hoping to get More >
The Only Night I’ve Ever Cheered For The Yankees
Nov 5th
Congrats to A-Roid, Jeter and all of the over-paid, over-hyped and over-weight Yankees for winning the World Series last night. I’m not going to lie, I cheered for the Yanks, but not for any reason other than they were leading the series and baseball is FINALLY over this season. For those of you who know me, you already understand my frustration with baseball as a spectator sport. Sure you could say I don’t appreciate the game for what it is, the fact that it’s a thinking man’s game or that baseball is more like a chess match – but I hate chess More >
The Independence Day-Bate
Oct 13th
I’ve had countless conversations / arguments with a good friend of mine over the “awesomeness” and “tragedy” of the mid 90′s blockbuster flick Independence Day. To refresh your memory, here are a couple of memorable / terrible lines:
“Oh No, You DID NOT just shoot that green shit at me!”
and
PUNCH, “Welcome to ERF”
Unless 1996 is a complete blur for you (completely justifiable), ID4 was one of those events that changed a lot of people, for good and bad. For my friend, it gave him a reason to watch movies. It was the staple in cinema that made him sit through 2 hours More >
Glee Returning Tonight!!!!
Sep 9th
First up, I should probably explain that I’m not a HUGE fan of musicals. Sure I like a lot of tunes blasting from my ear buds all of the time, but I’ve never lined up to catch the opening of Cats or anything. Musical theater is awesome, but I’ve just never been into the whole shabang of the event. Enter television/movie versions of musicals. I think it really started with Moulin Rouge for me. The Baz Lurman creation really made me look at the power of music and film all at once. Since then I’ve been somewhat obsessed with productions like Once More More >
10 Days Till Fringe Premier
Sep 7th
Please share in my excitement when I remind you that the season premier of Fringe is a mere 10 days away!!!!
As a HUGE fan of the series and its creator, this is probably one of the most anticipated days of the year for me. The off season provided some big news in that the series would be moving to Vancouver for production so I’m really excited to see how my home town will be featured on one of the best shows on television right now. Couple that with all of the hints the series has been dropping of late and you More >
