The Social Network (Facebook) Movie
Jun 30th
Morning Kids!
Just a quick one this morning, but I thought I’d bring a trailer to your attention. Sadly, I’ll probably end up watching this at some point in my life, but I really wanted to share how ridiculous the trailer for The Social Network looks right now. The intense music and voice over make this sound like an amazingly dramatic story. But as reality tells us, it’s just a couple of computer nerds arguing about money….
A high point for me is the text that pounds in:
Pretty cool huh? Love it.
Hang on while I post this to my wall. More >
Sadly, No… I Was Not A Voice in Up
Jan 21st
So I got this interesting FB message last evening. It seems as though my profile pics have been fooling people (or at the very least, this guy) into thinking that I was some how associated with the flick Up! Officially no, I had no part in the creation, distribution or production of Pixar‘s awesome animated flick from last year. What I will take somewhat credit for is that mysteriously they stole my physical appearance from my youth.
Okay, it was most likely a fluke that the character of Russell is basically an animated version of me from ages 6-11, but I watch More >
Quench Your Thirst With Facebook?
Jan 11th
Wow, this whole social networking thing is getting really out of hand lately. First it invades everyday life with updates and photo sharing, then the Tweeter wave and now? Facebook in collaboration with Vitamin Water have created a sports drink…
You read that correctly. Facebook is now a drink. Vitamin Water ran a campaign on Facebook to get a new label designed for their latest flavour and the results are in. Vitamin Water’s Facebook drink is called CONNECT and will taste like Black Cherry and Lime. Yeah, cause whenever I’m updating my status and commenting on someone’s profile pic I get a black-cherry and More >
Captcha Asked Me To Type It… I Swear
Dec 2nd
For those of you who are wondering what Captcha is, you’ll recognize the pic above. Anyways, I understand that Captcha randomly generates words for users to type to prove that we are in fact living, breathing, bleeding people, but I wonder if someone out there monitors the order of the words. As you can see, I was instructed by Facebook‘s Captcha mechanism to type the words
Tugging Stephen
Errrrrr, What? I don’t know Stepehn and I definitely don’t want to “Tug” him…..
I wonder what would show up if I threw that into lord Google? Maybe I’ll try that when I’m in a more More >
I Don’t Know Who I’m More Embarrassed For
Nov 4th
Pepsi or The Oympics.
I watch a lot of Hockey Night in Canada. When you have no cable and you have to stream all of your media from a laptop screen, the options are quite limited. Because of this I’m forced to endure a ton of terrible ad campaigns and embarrassing ideas that come out of consistently weak creative market (my gripes with CBC are well document here).
Well here’s the latest and possibly the worst of the bunch. If you watch Hockey Night in Canada, then you can probably tell where I’m going with this already. Pepsi in conjunction with Facebook is running a More >
Facebook Marketplace?
Sep 1st
I’m sure this is still in the Beta phase, but I believe Facebook Marketplace just launched today. By now everyone should have gotten a little notification in the bottom right of their screen when they login to Facebook telling them to check it out. Alright, so I’ve spent the better part of an hour exploring Facebook Marketplace (yes, I have an hour to do this because I’m waiting for approval on a project right now…..) and I’m currently unimpressed. The UI is nothing different than a standard online “Classifieds” site in that there really isn’t anything brand new or spectacular. I’m More >
Facebook Running Wonderland Trailer Competition
Jul 21st
This is actually a pretty cool idea. Facebook has teamed up with Tim Burton and the marketing crew behind the new Alice in Wonderland flick and have decided to run a bit of a friendly competition. They’ve created three fan pages for the live action fantasy. One is for fans of the Red Queen being played by Helena Bonham Carter. If you haven’t seen the image they’ve been running of Carter lately you can check it below. The next fan page running on Facebook is for the White Queen being played by Anna Hathaway. Same deal for her, you can check the image below. Finally, More >
Myspace versus Facebook Round 2: Fight!
Jan 8th
Thanks to everyone that has chimed in so far, your comments are much appreciated and I’ve taken them into context for round 2.
Round 1 went to Myspace in my opinion strictly on staying power. It’s been around for a while and seems like it will continue to stay in existence for the next little while. For round 2 I’m going to focus mostly on interaction with other members and how each platform helps people communicate with a purpose.
First up, Myspace. The innovative online social network was actually introduced to me as an easy way to have a website. It didn’t More >
