My adventures into WordPress and CSS are finally coming to fuition as my refreshed new portfolio is “almost,” complete. I only say “almost,” because this is one of those things that’ll never actually be finished. I’m at a stage where I’m simply inputting content; which for me, is really the home stretch. I’ve gone through multiple revisions and come up with something that I can live with. When working on personal projects such as this, you really do have to bite it and say, “screw it, it works.” Usually I’m an extreme perfectionist, but this is more of a situation where I’d rather just get something done and worry about being proud of it later on.

Here’s a preview of the logo Woojin Cho made for me.

Sure I ended up staying up until 3AM last night practicing, but it’s like the first time you actually figure out how to swim on a hot day – you never wanna leave the pool. So why did I take a lesson in CSS? Honestly, it can never hurt. I’m basically a peasant when it comes to code – I understand the core principles of the language, but I would never in a million years consider myself a developer. At least now I have a new found appreciation for the craft. I had arranged to get an online course on the basics, set up some screen sharing via YuuGuu (which is actually pretty awesome considering its free) and went to town.

Now? I’m sure it’ll pass, but I’m starting to see components in the real world as code and how they all function together. I know it’s scary and a little too Matrix-like. But I’m not going as far to say that I know karate, maybe that I’ve seen a lot of karate movies and I’m comfortable practicing on my own for a bit. Anyways, I was taught some of the basics with DIVs and Tags and then got right into it. The result? A one-page site I built for a friend’s wedding. During the lesson I was getting a bit confused, but my friend assured me that a lot of it is just based on comfort and practice. So that’s what I’ve been doing for the better part of 24 hours – Practicing. And with that, I leave you with this:
