They Basically Shrunk King Kong

How does everyone feel about the first trailer to come from the re-remake of Planet Of The Apes? I know it sounds strange, but I actually sort of buy James Franco as a scientist. In any case, the one thing that bothers me about this trailer is the overt call-out to the animation company. I think there should be a rule that doesn’t allow a movie trailer to say things like “The visual effects company that brought you Avatar….” It’s kind of like me making a video and having some type fly by that reads “I Know You Don’t Care, But More >
The Creepiest ZOD Ever
Apr 11th
Hey, did anyone notice that I posted something on the weekend? Probably not, but I did want to point out that I don’t just sit around in my jammies all day when the week is done (or do I????)
Anyways, back to the title of this post. Don’t know if you’ve heard or not but it is now confirmed that Michael Shannon will play the villain General ZOD in Zack Snyder‘s Superman: Man of Steel. Shannon will be playing opposite Henry Cavill, Diane Lane, Amy Adams and Kevin Costner in the rebooted DC superhero flick. Yeah, okay, so after SuckerPunch Mr. Snyder’s rep isn’t doing very well More >
Fight For Your Right Revisited

Is it just me or does this trailer/teaser for a 30 minute short about the Beastie Boys‘ next album actually look better than most of the movies that will be premiering in theatres over the next few months? Check out the spot below and get ready for the full 30 minute version that will be released just before the new album Hot Sauce Committee Part Two on May 3rd. This rivals anything Andy Samberg and the Lonely Island crew have done lately.
Hunger Games In Full Swing
Apr 5th
When I first started reading about Hunger Games, the tweenage paperback series from author Suzanne Collins which is now being turned into a feature film, the only thing I could think of was how once again, someone is ripping off a good idea from another country and trying to pass it off as their own. That idea is in fact Battle Royale from Japan. If you’ve seen BR and read Hunger Games than you know that the initial thought is pretty nieve. They are quite different in tone and Hunger Games is actually more of a political drama than an all-out brawl between More >
Brightest Day. Blackest Night. New Lantern Footage.
Apr 4th
If you haven’t seen the latest Green Lantern footage screened at Wondercon last week you’re missing out. Good thing we’re all allowed to embed this stuff without any punishment (yet). In any case, I’ll be honest, I wasn’t completely sold on Green Lantern, but now…. WOW.
Ryan Reynolds looks like he’s going to be able to pull this off but what’s really exciting is Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond. Not only is his normal human form evil looking, but when he turns into that mutated thing he looks even more gross. Anyways, check it all out below.
April Fools From Google
Apr 1st
This is a good one, especially because I already know 4 people who have sent this to me thinking it’s actually real.
Gmail (and subsequently Google), have done it again this year in releasing a fake feature for one of their products. This year’s culprit is Gmail Motion. The video is really good and I applaud those who kept a straight face while making it. My favourite part? Sending a message. Just lick a stamp and stick it to your knee!!!!
Okay, let’s try and get the office intern to fall for this.
Time For Another Woody Allen Flick
Mar 29th
I guess it’s that time of year again right? You know what I’m talking about. The time of year when Woody Allen reminds us all that his movies are so unique. Even though flicks like Vicky Christina Barcelona, Match Point and Whatever Works haven’t been generating the type of classic movie talk his earlier work has done, there are some of us that still enjoy a good Woody Allen flick.
Well, here’s his latest.
Midnight In Paris features Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Marion Cotillard, Michael Sheen, Adrien Brody and Kathy Bates just to name a few. I can tell you before even seeing anything about this flick, the More >
Let’s Just Pretend That Didn’t Happen. Okay?
Mar 29th
In some interesting news making the wire this morning, X-Men producer Lauren Shuler-Donner (and I say X-Men producer because she’s produced all of them) has been talking a bit about a couple of projects that are in dire need of updates.
First up, Wolverine. You know which one I’m talking about. The one that Darren Aronofsky dropped out of a couple of weeks back destroying all of the hope he provided for an awesome Wolverine feature (okay, so that’s a little less than an objective opinion on that, I’ll stop… Promise). Anyways, Donner is still pretty hyped about the new movie and she wants fans to be excited More >
