Recapping The First Week in Toronto
Sep 20th
Brace yourselves kids, this is going to be interesting.
So after the difficult goodbyes with everyone last Saturday I arrived in Toronto quite late in the afternoon only to be greeted with the news of Air Canada forgetting over 70 bags in Vancouver. After a plethora of complaints from angry over-aged men with their trophy wives, the representative seemed to get fed up and went on the loud speaker. He told everyone that our bags would be arriving on the very next flight from Vancouver, but that flight wouldn’t land for another 3 hours. Brilliant. So, without anything other than my lap top More >
Can’t wait for TV this evening….
Sep 18th
Normally I don’t wait to watch shows, but I’ve been running around so much in Toronto this las week that I actually (probably for the first time in my life) couldn’t make time for TV. Shocking I know…
Good thing I have Fringe and Bones ready to go for an evening of quick witted sci-fi mysteries and uncomfortable sexual tension between FBI employees. It’s the stuff good TV is made of right? Anyways, the GF wrote me an email about last night’s episode of Fringe and all she could say was,
OMG OMG OMG! and that is all I will say for now about More >
It’s Honkey Pool Season!!!!
Sep 17th
Like most Canadians, Fall really means only a few things. It means Winter is close (and now that I live in Ontario it means I gotta go buy some long undies) and it means that Hockey season is upon us. Currently all of the NHL teams are in pre-season mode, but from amount of media coverage the NHL is getting north of the border, you’d think the playoffs were about to start in a few weeks. What this also means is that the annual Battle Royale Hockey Pool is also going to being in a few weeks. As reigning champion I’m More >
True Blood Ends, GG Returns
Sep 16th
This week has been a little bit strange in the wonderful world of television as some of the Fall season premiers have already begun, while the Summer of True Blood comes to an end. I really like how HBO did that – putting True Blood on in the Summer time. They know people will watch and I have a feeling the second season will be available for DVD just as that Winter holiday rolls around. It’s also great for the viewer like myself who doesn’t get out much. It gives me something to watch that isn’t a rerun of Friends or one More >
A Tribute To Swayze
Sep 15th
I’m certain you’ll be reading many of these today, but here’s my top 5 Patrick Swayze flicks of all time. We lost a legend last night to cancer, but something tells me Patrick Swayze will never be forgotten.
5 – Dirty Dancing
What? How could the original DD be number 5 on your list? Well the answer is simple, I’m not a huge fan of the flick to begin with, but I give Swayze a lot of credit for pulling it off and making a movie with one of the greatest soundtracks of all time.
4 – Donny Darko
Alright so Swayze didn’t play the More >
So I Went To This Thing Called “Work” Today…
Sep 14th
Ah yes, my inevitable return to the dark side… Alright, so it’s not that bad – in fact it isn’t bad at all after the first day. After last night’s jitters I was almost certain I was going to make the biggest fool of myself out here. You’ve heard the story (I’m pretty sure someone like Ryan Reynolds has played this in a movie or something), small city kid moves across the country to the bigs only to realize he never should have left, only to then realize that he is becoming a man… blah blah blah. But I don’t think More >
First Day Jitters Already
Sep 13th
So I just landed in TO (okay it was really like a few hours ago, but I’m only now finally settled after a day of travel Hell), and I’m already nervous about the first day of work tomorrow. Call it what you will, but I don’t think I’ll ever be able to shake the nerves of a first… something. I’ve kind of always been this way with things like the first day of school, the first time meeting someone, blah blah blah, but I figured at 27 I’d be able to shake some of it off. To no avail as More >
Farewell Vancouver
Sep 11th
Hey Penguin Pack,
Big news to share that probably won’t be changing the production of this blog. I’ll be moving across the country this weekend and the next time you read a post from the Bloated Penguin it will be from Toronto and no longer Vancouver. I’m saying farewell to the only city I’ve ever called home and with it, many people I’ve grown up with, places I’ve grown to love and very specific “things,” that I never knew meant so much to me.
Sure it has been difficult saying goodbye to all of my friends and family, but one of the things that More >
