Safe House News
Apr 27th
Once again, apologies for being away. Lots has happened in the last little while so I’ll get right to it.
First up, it turns out that the early confirmed rumours about Joseph Gordon Levitt playing Holiday in Batman: The Dark Knight Rises weren’t actually confirmed as last week brought us the official news of Levitt playing the part of Gotham city cop John Blake. Apologies for jumping the gun on that one. Also, Marion Cotillard joins the cast to play Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member. Dark Knight Rises or Inception 2?
Also recently announced is an addition to the cast of Safe House. More >
More X-Men First Class International Goodness
Apr 20th
Morning all,
I refrained from posting any of the initial international trailers for X-Men First Class because, well, some of those are really hard to understand. I’m speaking of course specifically of the Russian version. Anyways, last night the fully English International trailer for X-Men: First Class was released and it’s still looking really nice. I still have to tip the hat to the submarine scene. We’ve seen it before, but it’s not getting old. The new trailer gives some one-the-nose backstory on what the flick will be about, but I’m guessing this was made for non-fans, people who will need someone to tell More >
More Cowboys and More Aliens
Apr 18th
Alright, so I’m finally starting to realize why John Favreau‘s Cowboys and Aliens has generated so much buzz since the announcement. Sure, we all know plenty about the amazing cast consisting of Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell, Paul Dano and many more, but this latest trailer released just this weekend actually puts a stamp on what this movie is going to be about. I’ll admit, I was slightly hesitant to get on board with this a few months ago because the trailer didn’t do anything but blow up a bunch of cowboys, but now? Now we’ve got a purpose. I should More >
They Basically Shrunk King Kong
Apr 14th
How does everyone feel about the first trailer to come from the re-remake of Planet Of The Apes? I know it sounds strange, but I actually sort of buy James Franco as a scientist. In any case, the one thing that bothers me about this trailer is the overt call-out to the animation company. I think there should be a rule that doesn’t allow a movie trailer to say things like “The visual effects company that brought you Avatar….” It’s kind of like me making a video and having some type fly by that reads “I Know You Don’t Care, But More >
Am I A Moleskine Nerd?
Apr 13th
Morning all,
Okay, so I know you’re probably used to the morning rants about movies and TV shows and the such, but I think I’m going to switch things up. Wait, come back from the ledge, it’s just a trial.
Anyways, I think I’m a Moleskine nerd…. I never really thought about it but my pretentious nature has cloaked itself from my self-conscious and all of a sudden I find myself generally pissed off when I have to write in a book that isn’t a Moleskine. Get the hipster criticism out of the way now cause I warn you, it could get worse.

The Creepiest ZOD Ever
Apr 11th
Hey, did anyone notice that I posted something on the weekend? Probably not, but I did want to point out that I don’t just sit around in my jammies all day when the week is done (or do I????)
Anyways, back to the title of this post. Don’t know if you’ve heard or not but it is now confirmed that Michael Shannon will play the villain General ZOD in Zack Snyder‘s Superman: Man of Steel. Shannon will be playing opposite Henry Cavill, Diane Lane, Amy Adams and Kevin Costner in the rebooted DC superhero flick. Yeah, okay, so after SuckerPunch Mr. Snyder’s rep isn’t doing very well More >
Fight For Your Right Revisited
Apr 10th
Is it just me or does this trailer/teaser for a 30 minute short about the Beastie Boys‘ next album actually look better than most of the movies that will be premiering in theatres over the next few months? Check out the spot below and get ready for the full 30 minute version that will be released just before the new album Hot Sauce Committee Part Two on May 3rd. This rivals anything Andy Samberg and the Lonely Island crew have done lately.
Hunger Games In Full Swing
Apr 5th
When I first started reading about Hunger Games, the tweenage paperback series from author Suzanne Collins which is now being turned into a feature film, the only thing I could think of was how once again, someone is ripping off a good idea from another country and trying to pass it off as their own. That idea is in fact Battle Royale from Japan. If you’ve seen BR and read Hunger Games than you know that the initial thought is pretty nieve. They are quite different in tone and Hunger Games is actually more of a political drama than an all-out brawl between More >
