Work
I’m a contract interactive storyteller so some of my posts are about my work
Done Like Dinner
May 26th
The adventure back into the corporate world is now officially over. I picked up my final cheque today and I’m out the door for good. I had a couple of exit interviews this afternoon as well, but the majority of it was just about complimenting each side. The reality is, I’m certain the company was not happy with their decision to bring me on board. Not that I’m incompetent or anything of the sort, but solely based on the fact that I constantly asked the questions everyone else either failed to ask, or were afraid to answer. But leaving under More >
One More Week!!!!!
May 19th
I woke up this morning kind of pissed off and kind of tired, (nothing out of the ordinary), then I looked at the calendar and realized that I’ve only got 1 week remaining on my contract!!!! If you’ve been following my adventures in the corporate world then you’ll understand my excitement. I originally came from an environment where work was fun – I had the best time of my life goofing around, getting stuff done and drinking until my liver hurt like someone punched me in the nuts. Then I decided to take the free lance/rogue route and worked primarily More >
What I’ll Miss The Least About My Job
May 11th
So my contract gig is coming to an end – I’m into the final 2 weeks (it actually could be the final week but I’m not sure right now…. Long story), and after thinking about what has gone on here from the inside out I think I’ll miss the bad machine derived coffee the least. Every morning for the past 4 months I’ve tried to digest this sludge and I think my liver has taken more of a beating than when I worked at Riptown…
Appetizing?
With automated, well, everything in this coffee machine I shouldn’t be surprised that the quality is More >
Beating Up Sympathy Like A Heavy-Bag
May 7th
If anyone out there had been following my Twitter feed yesterday then you already know that the company I am currently contracting for is not in good shape. To put bluntly, they really got what they deserved. I’ve worked in some pretty confusing places before, but after working here (my contract ends in 2 weeks) I’ve really begun to understand the importance of competent leadership. When all is said and done – meaning I cash my final cheque – I’ll go into some specifics, but in short I knew this place wasn’t going anywhere from the moment I stepped through More >

Wizard Defense
As some of you know I wrote a video game script called Wizard Defense earlier this year. It was the first of my career, and hopefully the first of many to come. Anyways, here’s where I get to dig my feet into the ground and toot my own horn as hard as I can (what? that sounds kind of gross). Like a lot of creatives, I kind of crave feedback.
I always want to know what I can improve on for the next time and I’ll be honest, it’s nice to hear/read when someone enjoys my work. Not only for self More >
Stranded
Apr 8th
What’s the worst part about moving offices (or in my case the location of my cube)? The hectic first day in the new spot. New people to pretend to get along with, a new scope of the land and for me at least, a lack of a chair. When I got in this morning I set up my station in my new location, got everything perfect, then was about to sit down, when I hit the floor (Okay, maybe I didn’t actually fall on my ass, but I did notice that I had no chair).
Just for kicks - come on...

When I quit my job I…
Apr 7th
So I used to be like this manager-type guy in a company that was essentially going nowhere fast so when I realized that my position really meant nothing, I made the conscious decision to get out and move on. I spent nearly 3 years with a media company doing everything from writing media campaigns to narrative design for online casino games, but by the time I reached about the half way point, I stopped and noticed that I hadn’t actually written or created anything in a very long time. Without me even knowing it I was managing people’s time, setting More >
