All Stop On American Akira
Jan 9th
Morning all,
That spine tingling screeching sound you heard last week were the breaks being put on the North American remake of Akira… Again. Ok, let’s be honest with ourselves for a second here, this isn’t the first time, there’s tonnes of fan outcry to stop this and it just feels as though the North American Akira is the wrong thing to do. This has been “in the making,” for a few years now with some big names attached, then detached (Leo and Keannu), but once WB finally found a director it sounded as if they were on their way. It More >
Tiny People With Giant Feet… Again
Jan 5th
Morning all,
Who out there has seen the trailer for Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey? I’m sure a lot already have, but I’ve embedded the trailer into this post just in case. Here’s my thing with The Hobbit: Timing. That’s it, no scathing words, no extremely strong opinions, pretty much just one word, and it’s timing. Don’t worry, I’ll explain.
The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy Ultimate Edition was one of the hottest selling items on Boxing Day (I guess that’s only up here in Canada, but whatevs), and coincidently the trailer for The Hobbit was officially released around the same More >
Ghost Protocol: Worth The IMAX
Jan 4th
Hello again,
See, I told you I was going to post about Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol. I’m not a liar, at least not completely.
Flat out worth the price of IMAX admission to see this flick on a larger screen. Not only was the one scene on the side of the building absolutely insane, the entire movie was really well assembled. I have to say, I’m shooting this to the top of my Mission Impossible list in terms of favourites. So now a little bit on what to expect from this flick when (not if, because you really should check this out in the More >
What’s That Bane?
Jan 4th
Morning all and Happy New Year.
Obviously I’ve been away from this blog for a little while, but I’m back in full force now. Think of this as the new and improved (updated if you will) 2012 version of The Bloated Penguin. Changes ahead? sure why not? It’s nice to ring in the new year making a false promise like everyone else. Okay, onto bigger and better (and more important) things.
Who out there invested 6 minutes of their time to watching the released Batman Dark Knight Rises footage over the holidays? I did, and I did it in spectacular IMAX fashion when More >
GI Joe Retaliation Trailer
Dec 13th
Morning all,
Here’s a thought. What if, in some cross over universe major action movie experience, the dudes from The Expendables fought the GI Joe crew? Like in an arena or something and the winner got to use Bruce Willis? I know, strange question, but when you watch the first trailer for GI Joe Retaliation you’ll understand why. Have a look at the latest trailer below from Jon Chu, you know, the guy who directed the Justin Bieber flick and all of those strange street dance movies that flew through pop culture a couple of years ago. I should probably hold my tongue on this, More >
Jazzed For Ghost Protocol
Nov 28th
Last week was insane so that’s my excuse for going AWOL once again. Um, yeah, I’ll stick with that.
Anyways, last week saw a whole lot of news in the trivial world of television and movies, but in my opinion none was more exciting than the three new TV spots for Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol. All joking aside when it comes to the strangeness of Tom Cruise, I’m super excited to see what Brad Bird can do with real people as opposed the animated characters we’re used to seeing from the former Simpsons producer and Incredibles director. Check out the latest TV spot for the Ethan More >
Pixar Is Back At It
Nov 16th
Morning all,
Just a bit of Pixar news a few days before the the premier of Jason Segal‘s Muppet movie okay? First up, check out the clip below of the latest Pixar short titled, “Small Fry.” Small Fry is a short based on the popular characters from Toy Story, specifically Buzz Lightyear. In this little tale it looks as though Buzz gets left behind at a fast food joint and has to join forces with those crappy nickel-looking plastic pieces of junk that you get when you order a Happy Meal (can you tell I’m not overly impressed with the quality of Happy More >
Thor Hunts Snow White
Nov 11th
Morning all,
I love it when a trailer surprises you and so is the case with the first official movie trailer for Snow White and the Huntsman. I’ll admit, I was really skeptical when I heard about this flick, but can you really blame me? The girl from Twilight battles Charlize Theron and gets hunted by Thor. If you think about that for a second it comes off a bit campy. But the cynic in my has been denied by this great looking trailer.
Snow White and the Huntsman stars Kristen Stewart as a sword wielding armour clad Snow White, Charlize Theron as a youth sucking evil queen More >
