Watched Watchmen, Watched My Watch
Mar 11th
Thrillhouse and his favorite comic
Morning kids,
Stayed up a little late last night and caught a 9PM showing of Watchmen at the local Googleplex of Theaters out in the burbs. I knew it was going to be a marathon, but I seriously don’t think I’ve ever had to pee so badly in my entire life. Zach Snyder should issue a warning to go up on screen about 15 minutes before the movie starts to make sure everyone in the theatre has emptied their bowels.
There was a movie too and this will be the shortest (and therefore BEST) review you’ll read about More >
Another Trailer… Yup its UP!
Mar 9th
Pixar looks to have done it again. Their latest feature Up! has been hitting the trailer wire for a while now, but they have just recently released a new one that introduces a new character. In the past, Pixar has tackled issues with the environment, the family dynamic and even the ocean, but with this new story it looks like they’ll be venturing into new territory. Up! looks to focus on (for lack of a better term) old people…
I’m a big fan of Pixar’s work, but for me it’s mostly been about the shorts they create (and clean up the Oscars More >
Yup… I’m a nerd and this is why

Morning kids,
I got this in my Inbox this morning and it was a better shock to the system than the sludge I call coffee here in the office. No, it’s not some kind of report, or screen shot of a design sample. It’s not an executive decision that will change the face of the company. A friend of mine did not send me pictures of some Hollywood starlet accidentally showing off some nipple. This is way more important. This is something that I think everyone should experience at least once today (cause I’ve watched it like 4 times already and More >
Usually its fun when your neighborhood is in the news…
Mar 5th
Neo...Burnaby?
Remember when you were like 7 and you would run to the window when you heard sirens in hopes of catching a glimpse of a fire truck or a police car? Or when some weird neighbor would cut out local newspaper clippings of pretty much anything that happened within a 6 block radius of your home? My how things change as we get older.
When I made the decision to move back to the burbs, one of the draws was the low crime rate and the fact that suburbs are generally family-oriented living complexes where the danger level hardly rises above More >
New Theme
Mar 3rd
Notice anything different?
Yup, it’s a new theme to the Bloated Penguin. You can store this away in the “Who cares drawer,” of your brain if you want, but it’s pretty exciting for me.
I liked the old style, but 1 person (which makes up about 50% of my readership) said that they would like to be able to see more of the older posts.
I was also getting a bit tired of the green on black theme I had in here before. I call that color scheme Ninja-Kermit.
So onto the new and a few changes should be expected. I’m going to start More >
Vomit Map of Yaletown
Mar 3rd
A couple too many?
I’m terrible with directions, but for some strange super hero-like reason I can navigate while grossly intoxicated. This is how I learned to navigate around Vancouver’s Yaletown – by remembering the places I’ve “marked…”
It’s tough to read them in this small window, but I’ve written descriptions to all of the places pointed out on the map. If you need a better look, I suggest clicking on the link to access the map in full.
Superblog DENIED!

DENIED!
So a couple of weeks ago I decided I would put this blog (The Bloated Penguin) up on Superblog just to see if there were more than 8 people in the world that would like to read it. I filled out the submission form and sent it off, and basically forgot about it (Or if I was an 80′s gangster movie star “Fugetabat-it”).
It turns out Superblog did get my submission and I guess after going through some of the post they DENIED The Bloated Penguin. I’m not at all upset at this, but their email was pretty funny:
Thank you for More >
Will I watch Watchmen?

The Comedian's Symbol
I’m sure most of you have seen the trailers, read the articles and pretty much followed the story behind the creation of Zac Snyder‘s Watchmen film. They promote more than the US armed forces and have spent over 100 Million bucks on the damn thing already. Also, if you live in Vancouver you might have noticed the shoot last year taking place all over downtown.
I’m not a big Snyder fan. I thought 300 was cool to look at for like 5 minutes, then it felt a little too much like a really long opening to gay porn (not that More >
