The Adidas Mega Diner Is Always Open
Morning all,
Thought I’d share this nice little site from Adidas this morning in case anyone is hungry for something… MEGA. That’s right, Adidas looks as though they are venturing into the food service industry (not literally of course). After a successful campaign through their Star Wars line it seems like the creative peeps over at the shoe comapny have ripped off the gloves and rolled up the sleeves.
The Adidas Mega Diner is a unique way to get online users engaged in some of the new products coming from the three-striped sneaker company. The concept is based on diner food and takes into consideration a ton of what makes good sites work these days. First, they set the mood. They’ve created an interactive video that allows the user to hear the music, see the visuals and pretend that they are in fact in a real restaurant. Next, they do something that a lot of promotional material is lacking these days, they ask what you want.
This is a concept that was extremely well used a few years ago, but with the bomb of social networking it seems to have lost some of it’s value in the eyes of the money makers. For those of us still wondering around this world of digital interaction, asking the user what they want is still the most valuable question out there.
The Adidas Mega Diner take this in a different direction though as they use the metaphor of ordering food in a restaurant. The waitress can make suggestions based on your answers, but at no time does the user ever feel as though something is being crammed down their throat. The payoff is also important and Adidas seems to understand this. Leading up to the payoff the user is presented with a series of questions all in the mode of an interactive video. Once the your answers are fully submitted, the video doesn’t change moods, it remains the exact same. Interactive story telling at it’s best I say. It’s Best!
Well done Adidas – I’d have lunch at the Adidas Mega Diner fo sho.
