I’m Alive, Just Saying…
Aug 26th
Hey Kids,
Just thought I’d drop a little message letting you all know that I’m alive, but I’m on vacation.
Sorry if you’ve been eagerly awaiting penguin news – I’ll be back to the norm in about a week. In the mean time, check this out!
Looks amazing so far Mr. Boyle! 127 Hours with James Franco and his arm. Can’t wait.
I’m Kenny Powers MuthaF*%#ers
Aug 20th
Morning kids,
And what a wonderful Friday this is, is it not? Couple that with pay-day and a trip back to Van to see the boys and the Penguin is smitten. But you’re not here to talk about me right? So here’s some cool news coming in.
Kenny Powers is back! HBO’s Eastbound and Down will is returning September 26!!!
Sure we might all be a tad tired of the hillbilly act Danny McBride has become famous for, but Eastbound and Down allows him to step slightly to the left and instead of playing a mullet-headed overweight middle American, he’ll be playing a mullet-headed overweight, More >

The Frost In January
Aug 18th
Morning all,
X-Men First Class news. Remember back when it was semi-announced that She’s Out Of My League star Alice Eve would be dawning the white leotard and playing Emma Frost in the new X-Men flick? Well, as with most rumours that was wrong. I bought into it as well so don’t feel so bad if you feel duped. On the flip side, the official news of who will be playing Emma Frost came down the wire a little while ago and in my opinion we’ve all traded up… Significantly.
Madmen enthusiasts will recognize January Jones who has now been slotted to play Emma and the rest of More >
Star Wars Blu-Ray On The Way
Aug 17th
A collective sigh of relief fell over the nerd-world last week when it was officially announced by Georgey Lucas that New Hope, Empire and Jedi will be coming to Blu Ray. I’m sure I’m not the first to think this but,
It’s About Effen Time
It’s supposed to be chalk full of deleted scenes and a bunch of other nerdy Star Wars-y stuff. I for one can’t wait – although the release date still says Fall 2011. In any case, I kind of hope they don’t bring Episodes 1-3 to Blu Ray. I’m not going to razz on them like a lot of More >
Scott Pilgrim Worth The Wait
Aug 16th
Been to the movies lately?
If not then I suggest your next visit should involve getting a ticket for Scott Pilgrim Versus The World. I’m not just plugging this because I’ve been obsessed with the comics for way too long, I’m actually plugging this for a few reasons.
1 – This is the greatest movie based in Canada ever (at least in my opinion).
2 – Ellen Wong‘s performance as Knives defines breakthrough
3 – Michael Cera can actually be more than awkward
and 4 – It’s different. Really different.
Sick of the predictable Mc-Movies that have been crammed down your throat in the last little while? Looking More >
Friday The 13th Duh duh duuuuuuh
Aug 13th
From Wikipedia
The fear of Friday the 13th is called friggatriskaidekaphobia, frigga meaning “Friday” and triskaidekaphobia (or paraskevidekatriaphobia) being a word derived from the concatenation of the Greek words Paraskeví (Παρασκευή, meaning “Friday”), and dekatreís (δεκατρείς, meaning “thirteen”) attached to phobía (φοβία, from phóbos, φόβος, meaning “fear”). The word was derived in 1911 and first appeared in a mainstream source in 1953.
There are conflicting studies about the risk of accidents on Friday the 13th. The Dutch Centre for Insurance Statistics (CVS) on June 12, 2008, stated that “fewer accidents and reports of fire and theft occur when the 13th of the More >
Something For Everyone This Weekend
Aug 12th
Morning kids,
Isn’t it great when a bunch of movies all open on the same weekend? I’m religiously against line-ups (even though I’m coincidentally always the one holding spots in line…) so when three pretty big titles hit the theatres on the same weekend it’s nice to spread the love. This weekend marks the opening of a trio of good looking flicks. The great part is, they are all drastically different – upon first glance.
For the gamer-comic-nerd-pretty-much-virgin there’s Scott Pilgrim Versus The World! I’ve been harping on people to get excited for this for a while now so I think this More >
