NBA Press Conference Mashups
Apr 30th
Morning Ya’ll
Sorry, that was a bit American of me but I’ve got good reason. With all of the Canadian hockey teams (Go Canucks Go) either waiting for the second round of the playoffs to begin or out golfing, I’ve turned my attention to the NBA Playoffs for a few days. First of all, love seeing that the Seattle Supersonics are pushing the Lakers to the brink in round one. Too bad they forgot the traditional green unis and forgot that they are from a different city now… Sad. Anyways, the first round has been entertaining, but I’m actually quite impressed with the latest More >
Japanese Expendables Trailer
Apr 29th
Ever wondered how excited Japanese people get when a huge American studio action flick comes to town?
From the sounds of this voice over I’m guessing it is of Godzillla proportions. Expendables looks pretty fun, although judging from how excited this guy sounds over the Japanese Trailer for the flick, I’m worried something may have been lost in translation. I’m still game to watch this when it hits theatres, but now I kind of want to watch it in Japanese….
Sorry, Vimeo doesn’t have this Japanese trailer online so I scraped this from YouTube.
And compare that, with the North American version:
30 For 30 Indeed
Apr 28th
My goodness ESPN’s 30 For 30 mini-docs are good these days. I admit, when I first heard about the concept a little while ago, I couldn’t even think of 30 subjects they could do let alone 30 awesome directors put behind the camera. But I’ve seen almost all of them to date and I can honestly say that I have not been disappointed with any of them.
The concept is simple… in theory. Gather 30 professional directors with extensive and respectable backgrounds in dramatic production and let them have an hour to tell their greatest sports story ever. The only catch is More >
Ready For Inception?
Apr 27th
Morning Kids,
Going to drop a little knowledge on the subject of a movie coming out this Summer, but before I get into the details I just wanted to say that it’s nice to finally have a good Summer flick to look forward to now that Kick-Ass has premiered. Anyways, onto the subject at hand, what next?
Well, who better to bring us out of this big budget theater funk than the man behind the lens of Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan. Nolan’s next big film is called Inception. I’ve been trying to follow this flick since it was announced, but this is More >
Round 2 Here We Come!!!! Bring On The Hawks!!!
Apr 26th
Morning kids, and what a wonderful morning it is if you’re a Canucks fan
Last night we took care of the Kings after a grueling six games and now our guys get a couple of days off before we take another crack at Round 2. Here are some thoughts on the first series:
Bernier…. Double-You-Tee-Eff?
Hank and Danny, if anyone in Vancouver deserves to make that much cash playing hockey it’s you.
Bobby-Lou, thanks for the glove. I owe you a beer. Signed: Andrew Alberts
Drew Doughty, I’m once again a fan. See you next year.
For the love of broadcasting CBC, DO NOT MAKE US LISTEN TO KEVIN WEEKES More >
It’s Friday… I don’t wanna do anything
Apr 23rd
A sign of things to come
It’s Friday, it’s game day, it’s gorgeous outside and me? I don’t want to do a thing.
I really want to ditch work and go find a patio, but my conscience keeps popping up every time I almost fake a headache…. Instead, here is what I going to hope for tonight’s game:
Edler remembers what he ate before game 1 and become Lil’ Ohllie again
SOB (Shane O’Brien) channels his inner Irish and unleashes the madness on Anze
Bieksa remember that he’s actually not that good of a hockey payer and instead focuses on running people over
Grabner and Burrows finally score. It’s been WAY too More >
Gots Me A New Layout – And Congrats Canucks!
Apr 22nd
Morning Kids!
As you can probably tell, I gots me a new layout for the Bloated Penguin. I just switched things over to the new Mystique template last night so I’ll be spending this weekend doing a complete overhaul of the look. I went with Mystique because it is very compatible with the latest updates from WordPress and it is actually endorsed by them. I’m taking this as a sign that this is a safe template to use with all of the updates, something the old layout suffered from when I decided to go rogue and play around with the CSS. I’m not More >
Meet Jessica Lucas
Apr 21st
Dear Taj Pannun – You’re Welcome.
For those of you who couldn’t stand the shaky cam, first person style of the 2008 flick Cloverfield, Jessia Lucas‘ face is probably new – unless you frequent the CW and are a fan of the resurrected Melrose Place. But I’ll get into that a little bit later as this profile is going to go into more background information than anything. Jessica Lucas is another talented Vancouver girl who is going to make a huge splash in Hollywood sooner or later. Her career started on stage, like most, and after some childrens’ parts in prodictions of More >
