Family Guy versus Southpark Round 1 – FIGHT!!!!
Oct 19th
Alright kids, the argument of all arguments. Southpark or Family Guy? I’ve got my reasons for one over the other, which I’ll lay out in front of you below, but before I do I’ll go through how I’ve come to this conclusion. I’ve broken round 1 in 4 categories: Originality, Risk, Popularity, and Lasting Power. Within these categories I’ve basically picked one winner. The one obvious category I’ve left out is animation, but I want to argue about the complete show – the story, the dialogue, the irony and the brilliance – not how it looks on a 70″ LCD screen More >
I’m A Sucker For Reviews
Oct 16th
Hey Kids!
I admit, I’m one of those people that likes to go online and find out “leaked” information about things that I’m interested in. More often than not, this information isn’t meant for the general public, but I know how to navigate around the Blogosphere well enough to find some of the more outlandish rumors. But lately I’ve been rethinking my position on this. I feel as though I’m ruining a lot of the surprise and in a way, how I’m supposed to feel about certain things.
Case and point? Where The Wild Things Are.
I’ve been so excited to see this More >
Force Feeding Battle of the Blades….
Oct 15th
Dear CBC,
As a long time enemy and first time commenter on your “entertainment” organization, I must say that even you have gone too far with Battle of the Blades. Where your ideas come from are more mysterious than the rise of Dan Brown and I really don’t appreciate being force fed this terrible concept. Under normal circumstances I would just chalk this up as another horrible idea to come out of your ancient marketing/creative team, but I feel compelled to say something about BOTB because I fear for the generation of children that are currently being exposed to this disease.

Who Sent You? Your Hairdresser
Oct 14th
The first trailer for The Expendables is finally online and sporting more testosterone than the lobby at a UFC event. If you’re unaware of Sly Stallone’s latest project then here’s the skinny from what I can gather:
The Expendables looks like a more multicultural A-Team. A small group of soldiers (most likely ex-military professionals with an edge) are led by Rocky himself Sylvester Stallone. On his rag-tag team of gun-toting crazy dudes are the likes of Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Terry Crews and Randy Couture. Already this sounds like some kind of cross generation super action team, but they have to go up More >
The Independence Day-Bate
Oct 13th
I’ve had countless conversations / arguments with a good friend of mine over the “awesomeness” and “tragedy” of the mid 90′s blockbuster flick Independence Day. To refresh your memory, here are a couple of memorable / terrible lines:
“Oh No, You DID NOT just shoot that green shit at me!”
and
PUNCH, “Welcome to ERF”
Unless 1996 is a complete blur for you (completely justifiable), ID4 was one of those events that changed a lot of people, for good and bad. For my friend, it gave him a reason to watch movies. It was the staple in cinema that made him sit through 2 hours More >
My Mild Conversation With A Celebrity
Oct 12th
Okay, so “celebrity” might be pushing it, but if you’re part of the small circle of literary fans (actually even smaller considering she’s Canadian) then you’ll be able to relate to my excitement when I say I met Margaret Atwood. Who? Okay, this is going to be a bit telling, but in order for me to successfully graduate from University, I was forced to study Literature (basically I flunked out of everything from psychology to sociology). One of my mandatory undergrad courses was popular Canadian Lit (a complete oxymoron if you ask me). Among a bunch of unknown authors, I had the More >
So Frustrating It Hurts My Pride
Oct 11th
So the other day the GF picked up a new DS game. While she’s been visiting me out in Toronto this week (which has been awesome BTW), we’ve gotten right back into our routine of television, movies and video games. The other day while scoping out the Interweb, she discovered a game that she thought would great to spend some quality time with on a the plane ride home. The game in question is one Henry Hatsworth developed by EA this year. Reviews have been pretty good considering the game really hasn’t been getting a lot of press, and with an affordable More >
Predators Lands Brody?
Oct 8th
There’s been a lot of news surrounding Robert Rodriguez‘s remake / latest installment of the Predator franchise. You remember Predator right? That deadlocked squid looking thing that got its ass kicked by Arnold and…. Danny Glover? (BTW – I choose not to acknowledge the recent installments of flicks like Alien vs Predator). Well after a lot of talk this year, Rodriguez may have finally found his leading man. Drum Roll Please….
Adrien Brody….????
Yes, you read that correctly. The Oscar winner has apparently been lobbying for a lead role in Rodriguez’s Predator for some time now and it looks like he’ll get his wish. More >
