New Port Coming Along
Jul 22nd
As I said last week, I’m finally giving my portfolio a bit of a refresh. After looking through some of the stuff that’s out there and figuring out how I want to position myself as a brand, I’ve decided to take the entire thing in a whole new direction. The first thing I did was decide that I was going to build the whole thing in WordPress. I blog a lot for a lot of different clients, so the interface is as easy as pecan pie. The problem was finding an appropriate template to frack with. Good thing I had More >
Facebook Running Wonderland Trailer Competition
Jul 21st
This is actually a pretty cool idea. Facebook has teamed up with Tim Burton and the marketing crew behind the new Alice in Wonderland flick and have decided to run a bit of a friendly competition. They’ve created three fan pages for the live action fantasy. One is for fans of the Red Queen being played by Helena Bonham Carter. If you haven’t seen the image they’ve been running of Carter lately you can check it below. The next fan page running on Facebook is for the White Queen being played by Anna Hathaway. Same deal for her, you can check the image below. Finally, More >
Square Pizza Just Isn’t… Pizza
Jul 20th
After a long day of frolicking out in the sun yesterday I came home rather burnt and and tired. Crashed for a few hours and awoke to the sweet and greasy smell of Pizza Hut pizza being fanned into the bedroom. The GF was kind enough to go out and grab some dinner while I melted away. Anyways, when I emerged from my cave I was expecting to grab a few slices, crash on the couch and start eating pizza – like a normal person. But when I came into the kitchen I noticed that the box said Pizza Hut, More >
Working On A New Portfolio
Jul 17th
I have to be honest, my portfolio is sooooo 2008. I really appreciate the work the Normal Design Group did with it last year, but I think it’s high time for a little upgrade. Nothing too major, but I want to upgrade the freshness of it all and seeing as I’ve done a ton of work since the last time I updated, I’ve decided to rethink the whole idea. Couple that with the fact that the group over at One Night Site have agreed to help me make the transition to WordPress and I’ve decided to go ahead and start from scratch.

Does Anyone Else Agree?
Jul 16th
Okay, this is going to be a bit weird if you’re not a True Blood fan AND you’re from Vancouver, but does anyone else out there think that the character of Steve Newlin looks eerily similar to Canucks hold-out center Kyle Wellwood? I’ve documented my dislike for Wellwood before, but now whenever I watch True Blood, the ridiculous church boy Steve Newlin does nothing but remind me of the miniature over-weight center from Ontario… Anyways, take a look and let me know. Also note that both represent a huge amount of evil in this world so the comparisons go beyond just looks.
Maybe I’ll Watch? Probably Not
Jul 15th
Okay, I have to admit, the thought of Storm Shadow versus Snake Eyes in the upcoming GI Joe flick is intriguing. I don’t know how many times I’ve played this fight out with the toys over the years (yesterday Storm Shadow won which puts him slightly in the lead), so to actually see how someone else envisions it will be interesting. I doubt they will have such clever props as I did when I was a kid (the backyard balcony, my sisters off-limits room, the kitchen floor), but who knows maybe, just maybe it’ll be cool. I’m not saying I’ve fully decided to More >
The Frustrations of Credit Card Fraud
Jul 14th
My credit card was recently compromised leaving me with that feeling of incompleteness similar to that of losing a limb. Okay, maybe that last statement contained somewhat of an assumption, but I’m not exaggerating when I say I feel like I’m missing something without it. I never realized how important that little piece of magnetic plastic was to me until I started making a list of all of the different companies I was going to have to contact to let them know that my information has changed. The list started off manageable with things like the phone company and Amazon, More >
Wire Framing For Favors

Morning Kids!
So later on this Summer a strange URL might pop up that will look like something similar to:
wedding.mikescottlew.com
I AM NOT GETTING MARRIED.
I’ve agreed to build and host a wedding website for a friend of mine and I thought I’d share the truth with people before they start assuming that I’m taking the plunge. Why am I doing this you might ask? Well, one of my very good friends (I’ve known her since kindergarten when she wore a polka-dot dress to the first day of classes) is getting married and she’s asked for my help in building a site for More >
