Wire Framing For Favors
Morning Kids!
So later on this Summer a strange URL might pop up that will look like something similar to:
wedding.mikescottlew.com
I AM NOT GETTING MARRIED.
I’ve agreed to build and host a wedding website for a friend of mine and I thought I’d share the truth with people before they start assuming that I’m taking the plunge. Why am I doing this you might ask? Well, one of my very good friends (I’ve known her since kindergarten when she wore a polka-dot dress to the first day of classes) is getting married and she’s asked for my help in building a site for the event. At first I thought this was a brilliant idea. Why waste paper and postage sending out invitations when you can just be like, “yo, check this link – bring an expensive gift?” But I was wrong. It turns out that instead of saving the planet and on printing costs, the website is actually going to accompany two physical invitations. Apparently (and this is proof that I’m out of the loop on all of this wedding stuff), you’re supposed to send out what is referred to as a “Save The Date Card,” kind of a reminder that there’s a wedding in the future. Printed on this card is going to be the mentioned URL so people can check out the details like location, time and registry info.
Then, like a few months later, another actual invitation will be sent out…. So when I thought it was great that creating an online wedding invitation was an idea to save on expenses and environmental costs, it actually turns out that I’m aiding in even more invitations…
Anyways, I pulled the stupid move of asking what my compensation would be for a project like this and the following is excerpt from my conversation with the bride-to-be:
Me – “So, like, am I going to get anything out of this?”
Bride – “Dude, I’m inviting you to my wedding. Isn’t that enough?”
Me – “er… I guess. So have you ever heard of Evite?”

All work related e-mails filter out into a folder called Favours. I think it’s very Godfather-ish.

Funny how you are the one to comment on a post like this seeing as you’re actually designing this site….
At least you get a video game. I get “good bride vibes…”

I don’t condone such profanity on this site. Please refrain from using the term “ho.” Thank you.
