A sign of things to come?
Apr 11th
Happy Easter Weekend everyone!
If you’re stuck in a non-governmental job like myself then the long weekend is actually only 3 days instead of the usual 4. Man, I kind of miss school… Okay not really.
Anyways, to make matters worse, I just read that one of my new favorite shows is getting the carpet pulled right from underneath them again. Dollhouse, Joss Whedon‘s latest masterpiece is getting the second-class citizen treatment from Fox again. Here’s what I’ve learned since Friday:
Fox and Whedon’s production company came to agreement for a run of 13 episodes of Dollhouse before anything was shot.
Whedon then had some More >
Damn You Amazing Looking Movie Trailers!!!!
Apr 10th
Just when I thought the rest of the year’s sci-fi movies worth seeing could be counted on one hand (Star Trek, Harry Potter, Terminator 4, Transformers 2), someone ups and sends me this amazing trailer of Sam Rockwell in Moon. I became a bit of a Rockwell fan after watching Frost/Nixon last year – he played the smart guy on Frost’s team, the one that actually gave Frost good information to use. Anyways, Moon looks like one of those amazing one-man-performances that only comes around once in a long while. The trailer really does its job cause I’m a little obsessed More >

Wizard Defense
As some of you know I wrote a video game script called Wizard Defense earlier this year. It was the first of my career, and hopefully the first of many to come. Anyways, here’s where I get to dig my feet into the ground and toot my own horn as hard as I can (what? that sounds kind of gross). Like a lot of creatives, I kind of crave feedback.
I always want to know what I can improve on for the next time and I’ll be honest, it’s nice to hear/read when someone enjoys my work. Not only for self More >
Stranded
Apr 8th
What’s the worst part about moving offices (or in my case the location of my cube)? The hectic first day in the new spot. New people to pretend to get along with, a new scope of the land and for me at least, a lack of a chair. When I got in this morning I set up my station in my new location, got everything perfect, then was about to sit down, when I hit the floor (Okay, maybe I didn’t actually fall on my ass, but I did notice that I had no chair).
Just for kicks - come on...

When I quit my job I…
Apr 7th
So I used to be like this manager-type guy in a company that was essentially going nowhere fast so when I realized that my position really meant nothing, I made the conscious decision to get out and move on. I spent nearly 3 years with a media company doing everything from writing media campaigns to narrative design for online casino games, but by the time I reached about the half way point, I stopped and noticed that I hadn’t actually written or created anything in a very long time. Without me even knowing it I was managing people’s time, setting More >
The Foot of Allergies Just Kicked My Ass
Apr 6th
Spring time sucks. Period.
Sure the weather is beautiful and the foliage around the world starts to breathe again, but for me it’s like some kind of unplanned sacrifice. Flowers and grass get their color back, while I’m holed up in my apartment congested like the parking lot from the hockey game last night. Oh yeah, I went last night and was not impressed – good thing for 2 for 1 Grimm‘s Hotdogs…
This CD cover pretty much sums up my weekend...
Okay, back to the subject at hand – Springtime allergies, or HEY! Fever. Sucks. I’m puffier than a freshly heartbroken college More >
Got my CG Fix Last Night
Apr 3rd
After failing miserably to gather some friends to watch Monsters vs Aliens last night I decided to get my CG fix anyways and popped in Igor from last year. The flick isn’t bad, I mean it doesn’t fail at everything, but its what I would call a tweener-flick – not quite good, but not ass-backwards terrible either. Kind of the movie equivalent to the guy in your office who you wouldn’t consider a “friend,” but you wouldn’t kick him down a flight of stairs either.
Igor plays on the unsuspecting hero theme, but does so in a very Tim Burton-esque way. More >
On Second Thought…
Apr 2nd
A very interesting thing happened to me the other day. I was contacted by a possible client looking for some interactive writing they would need for an upcoming project. I won’t mention the client name because I’m still a little bit on the fence with this one. Anyways, HR department calls and asks me if I’d be interested in taking something on. I responded with the obvious questions.
So what exactly is it?
What does this company do?
To me, I think these are pretty standard questions. Especially when the client is basically making a cold call to a contractor they might need. More >
