Observing the Observer
Jan 22nd
I’m addicted to Fringe so when the show returned this week it was a breathe of fresh air for network television. Never mind that the latest episode very obviously written by JJ Abrams himself was more of an hour-long homage to Alias than anything, the show is wonderful from the opening credits to the way they present the location titles within the frame.
One of the great things about the show so far is the way the writers have been able to stay within a mythology while slowly solving or clearing up small problems along the way. It isn’t like Lost More >
Down goes the Pattullo
Jan 21st
Normally things like this don’t bother me because, well, I don’t drive all that much. But low and behold, I traveled quite a bit today and was stuck in traffic for most of it. Why? One of our main bridges is out of commission due to homeless person recklessness. Specifically the Pattullo Bridge that connects New Westminster and Surrey was badly damaged in a cooking fire that took place underneath.
So after 26+ years of turning a blind eye and pretending a problem never existed, bad traffic and a spurt of road rage have prompted me to change my mind.

Sham-Wow!
Jan 20th
I’m sure I’m not the only person in the world who is OBSESSED with the Sham Wow infomercial, but come on, what is there not to like about this product?
Okay, maybe the product itself is a bit dodgy, but the marketing and the plan to create this viral host has amazing potential. Who watches infomercials? Mostly those of us who suffer badly from insomnia. So when the video games get boring, we’ve watched our 7th episode of late night 70′s Show and penis enlargement drugs and 1-900 numbers are flooding the airwaves it is refreshing to watch the Sham Wow More >
Redband
Jan 19th
Anyone out there really know what the term “Red Band” actually means? I was looking up movie trailers and found a whole bunch of raunchy previews with “Red Band” in the title. Okay okay – so I actually do know what it means, but do Red Band trailers really add anything?
Here’s what I gathered from Wikipedia:
“Trailers that do not adhere to these guidelines may be issued a red band, which reads “The following PREVIEW has been approved for RESTRICTED AUDIENCES ONLY by the Motion Picture Association of America,” and may only be shown before an R-rated, NC-17-rated, or unrated movie.”

Tee Minus One Week

Sage North America
A small announcement today. I’ve been storing this in the back of my mind because I didn’t really want to believe it, but I will be returning to the corporate world. In about a week I’ll have to finally change out of the comfort of my pajamas and back into presentable clothing. After much debate, I’ve decided to take a 4 month contract over at Sage Interactive.
This was a very difficult decision for me to make because well, I love working my own hours. The pay isn’t amazing, but what’s a couple of bucks when sanity is on More >
I’M NOT WEARING HOCKEY PADS!!!!

I'M NOT WEARING HOCKEY PADS!!!
For some reason certain lines in blockbuster films stick in my head like old marshmallow’s in my sister’s hair. I have idea why they stick around, but once they get in there, its pretty much permanent.
Past lines have included “I got caught doing a piece for Vanity Fair,” from Ironman;
“Fuck-Ass,” from Donnie Darko;
and most recently, “I’M NOT WEARING HOCKEY PADS!” from the Dark Knight.
There is really no reason for all of this – in fact most of them mean nothing to the plot. I just like to wake up in the morning and start my day More >
My first Blog Exposure
Jan 14th
A lot of people’s first exposure to a blog – or blogtype journal – was probably something they found online. A friend with some computer knowledge started writing about their day, a family member started posting information to Friendster or maybe they just stumbled upon some kind of online gem. The very first blog I ever read was by Mark Cuban – Rouge owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, but my first exposure to a journal that took technology and self narration and fused them together?
Doogie Howser – and it’s still as wonderful as ever.
Here’s a version of the theme More >
The Dynamic Duo Returns!

Jack and Tony
Probably the most entertaining 4 hours of my week has been provided by Jack, Tony, and the rest of the crew over in DC working on thwarting the latest terrorist act by an international criminal. 24 was on (what felt like) a 10 year hiatus and after a dismal attempt to regain viewers with a terrible TV movie late last year, I didn’t have high hopes.
I like being proved wrong with stuff like this.
Tony is back, Jack is again on the run and last night’s viewers were given a little nugget of continuity when we were reintroduced to More >
